Madeleine Tuckfield-Carrano - Represented by Artsite Gallery Madeleine Tuckfield-Carrano - Represented by Artsite Gallery

Australian Artist and Director of Artsite Gallery, Madeleine Tuckfield-Carrano has been acknowledged as one of Australia's leading contemporary printmakers. She has exhibited paintings, works on paper and prints since 1981 with over 25 solo and numerous curated, group and finalist award exhibitions in Australia and Internationally.

Living and working in Sydney, Tuckfield-Carrano has travelled extensively around Australia, as well as overseas on painting and photography trips to Europe, Asia, China, Japan, Morocco, Canada and America.

...to try to explain my work with written word is to change the whole process of looking...your mind sees the written word according to learned meaning but looking is informed by ones own experiential knowledge. What the observer brings to a painting informs a seeing that encompases alternative and layered meanings....
Yes, I do have recurrent themes or ideas, that I return to as a kind of periodic regrounding... and Yes language, or more specifically the meaning of language, as I personally experience or interpret it, is very important to informing interpretation of some of my work, particularly recent printworks.

As Picasso pointed out, "an idea is a point of departure and no more. As soon as you elaborate it, it becomes transformed by thought".

...These thoughts become visual...
Madeleine Tuckfield-Carrano 2013
