The majority of David Asher Brook´s smaller works in this exhibition, were first shown 2nd April 2017, in a one day exhibition at Damien Minton´s 583 elizabeth street projects in Redfern.

Discovering this work buried in David´s storage shed was a real surprise. …it is rare to see such a strong body of earlier work (2017) made for exhibition, that has been simply stored since its brief exposure… they are important references towards Brook´s more recent works seen at Artsite and are a delight to view for their freshness and familial candour”, commented Madeleine Tuckfield-Carrano, exhibition Curator.

What's On Now

For John Edwards, this exhibition continues his conversation with the legendary bushranger, Captain Thunderbolt.

Bushrangers were regarded as heroes by the battling small landholders who recognised their common enemy as the Government and the Law, both sympathising and identifying with “The Gentleman Bushranger“. Many considered Thunderbolt to be a victim of circumstance.
t large, for probably the longest period in bushranging history, Fred Ward, AKA Captain Thunderbolt, was pursued by regular mounted Police, especially commissioned Bounty Hunters and enlisted Aboriginal Trackers for almost six and half years across NSW, and particularly around the New England area where he had several suspected hideouts.

Daniel Pata’s paintings explore the extremes of landscape, ranging from coastal environments to arid regions of the outback such as Mutawinjti and Flinders Ranges. Much of Daniel´s work is painted directly from the subject, “en plein air”, and these works represent some of his recent painting trips to the more remote areas around Alice Springs.

Daniel Pata regularly travels on painting trips within Australia, and predominantly in France, where he has researched aspects of Cézanne´s pictorial elements in painting, which have significantly influenced the nature of his work.
I respond to the differences of light, shade and colour giving distinction to various places. Added compositional factors create an alignment with abstract qualities that interest me.

Public Collections include: Sturt University, NSW; Gosford Regional Gallery, NSW; St.Peter´s College, Oxford University, UK; The National Gallery of Australia, ACT. Corporate and Private Collections: Australia, Europe and USA.
