Congratulations to Christine Druitt Preston, finalist in the 2021 KAAF Art Prize Exhibition, with her lino cut print, The Chinese Screen, 2021.
The Korea-Australia Arts Foundation Prize (KAAFP) has both acquisitive and non-acquisitive cash prizes totalling $24,000 for the artists.
KAAF’s main goal is to seek support for the Australian multicultural society and to take part in promoting and enhancing a truly cultural and ecological community by bringing artists together from diverse ethnicities, from all over the nation.
The 2021 Judges were Mr. John McDonald, Art Critic & Columnist, SMH; Mr. Oliver Smith, Senior Lecturer, SCA and Professor Inae Kim, SNU Korea.
The judges spent almost 6 hours going through close to 600 images one by one, narrowed it down to approximately 100 semi-finalists, then finally down to 66 finalists, noted Cathie Kim, KAAF Art Prize Co-ordinator. The quality of the artwork was an absolute necessity of course but the judges were also taking into consideration the variety of the medium, the context and the overall size of the artworks as well.
2021 KAAF Art Prize New Exhibition Dates: 23 July – 27 August 2021
