I am interested in how changing light reorganises form: how a distant industrial facade flattens into a band of colour, how motion and stillness coexist on a single plane; and how everyday maritime structures register time and weather. My paintings present the visible traces of labour alongside stretches of sky and water, conveying calm, a sense of passing time, and the quiet narratives suggested by vessels at rest.
I combine measured linear elements with looser passages: deliberate delineation for cranes, hulls and architectural details sits beside softened horizons and layered translucent washes. For evening scenes like this, my palette favours muted pastels and cool greys, interrupted by small warm notes that register mechanical light or human presence. The works rely on intuitive brushwork to express texture and atmospheric change.
Across this body of work, I seek to reveal the poetry in ordinary waterfront moments — the brief alignments of shape and colour, and the settled accommodation reached between industry and the sea.
