Erika Cholich is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University and The Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland, Ohio, USA; working in the studio of recognised American artist, Shirley Aley Cambell. In 2011, Cholich was awarded the Eva L. Pancoast Memorial Fellowship which initially took her to Prague (Czech Republic) and around the world, before settling permanently in Sydney.

Erika Cholich has been recent finalist in the 2023 Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize, the 2022 Burwood Art Prize, the 2021 Hawkesbury Art Prize and the 2019 Archibald Prize, at the Art Gallery of NSW. She is a regular finalist in Australian Art prizes. In 2019 she as awarded Highly Commended, Burwood Art Prize and Traditional category winner, Camden Art Prize.

Erika Cholich employs a combination of technical skill with intuitive mark making, working directly in oil paint from life.

Working from life...  searching for a balance of the known and the perceived... forces the artist to contend with limitations. It's experiential and transient in nature. Capturing 'life' and translating that intangible energy... is dependent on 'real-time' factors...
