Congratulations to Daniel Pata, selected as a finalist in the AGNSW 2021 Wynne Prize with his oil painting, East MacDonnell Ranges.
This is an open competition judged by the trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW.
The prize was established following a bequest by Richard Wynne, who died in 1895, and first awarded in 1897, in honour of the official opening of the Gallery at its present site.
This year there were 660 entries and of these 39 were selected for the finalist exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW.
We are impressed by the exceptional quality of entries from artists from around the world this year. Our judges have had an incredibly challenging job preselecting from the large number of submissions.
Among the 39 finalists, there are 20 works by Aboriginal artists – the most on record – and, for the first time, there are more works by women than men represented in the exhibition.
Exhibition Dates: 05 June – 26 September 2021
